Is it actually the same room? Confirm room type, bed configuration, and view or floor category match the original booking, not just the room name — a lower price on a genuinely different room isn't a comparable deal, even if the name sounds similar.
Is it actually the same rate terms? A lower price on a non-refundable rate isn't a fair comparison against a free-cancellation booking you already hold. Match cancellation policy and any included extras like breakfast before treating the price gap as real savings rather than a tradeoff.
Is the deadline realistic? If the original booking's cancellation window is closing soon, confirm there's enough time to book the new rate, verify it, and cancel the old one cleanly — a savings opportunity that requires rushing through the cancellation deadline carries its own risk of something going wrong.
These three checks take a couple of minutes combined, and they're the difference between a rebooking that reliably saves money and one that trades a known, comfortable booking for a slightly cheaper but meaningfully different one. When all three check out clean, the rebooking is almost always worth it.
